This is a lovely apartment in the heart of Paris. The Notre Dame Cathedral and the quays of the Seine are your neighbors. Nearby is the celebrated Latin Quarter, and you're just steps away from the historic buildings and shops of the Ile Saint-Louis. Within walking distance you'll find the Luxembourg Gardens and St-Germain-des-Prés on the Left bank, and the Marais on the Right bank.
This one-bedroom apartment is located just across from the Notre Dame Cathedral. Accessed by stairs, it is on the fifth floor of a small 15th-century building that has been tastefully renovated. The building is located on a charming street at the edge of a quaint park. It features rustic beamed ceilings, light walls, and large windows looking towards the attractive view of Notre Dame and the Pantheon.
The entryway is a small corridor that leads to the bedroom with a queen bed that can be split into 2 single beds and ample closet space. It overlooks a quiet courtyard. Just behind the bedroom there is an office area with a large desk and a chair where you can work and enjoy the view of Paris. Adjacent is the compact kitchen, well equipped with all the necessary appliances. A short corridor leads to the living room with wood-beamed ceilings and south facing windows that let in excellent natural light. Completing this apartment is a full bathroom.
About the Neighborhood
Since the Middle Ages this riverside quarter has been dominated by the Sorbonne, and acquired its name from the early Latin-speaking students. It dates back to the Roman town across the Ilea de la Cite. The area is generally associated with artists and students, but the place also has a history of political unrest : In 1871, the Place Saint Michel became the center of the Paris Commune, and in May 1968, it was a site of student uprising.
The place contains many of the Paris monuments, museums and gardens, ranging from the brand-new Institut du Monde Arabe to the Middle Ages Musée de Cluny, or the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle in the Jardin des Plantes.
